Did you know that Lake LBJ was originally called Lake Granite Shoals? The lake was formed in 1950 after the building of the Granite Shoals Dam which was renamed Wirtz Dam in 1952 after the first general counsel of the LCRA Alvin J Wirtz. In 1965 Lake Granite Shoals became Lake Lyndon B.
